Facing Tests MP3

In this satsang that followed the dedication of the Lord Nataraja Shrine in Yogaville, Virginia, Swami Satchidananda gives a teaching on the meaning and purpose of spiritual tests: “Reaching the goal of spiritual life is the biggest degree one can get. God knows that you are trying to grow. The one who wants to get the degree gets the test. God wants to make sure that you are growing in the right direction, that you are keeping up that zeal, faith and devotion. It’s a continuous, constant education.”
Sri Gurudev shows how spiritual progress is measured by how surrendered we are, whether we put God first and that when we do, all else will be added. He elaborates on the Biblical teaching, “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all else will be given unto you.”
He offers inspiration by the retelling of various parables and stories from the lives of many saints and sages including Abraham, Markandeya, Siruthonda Nayanar, Tukaram and Ekanath.
